Introduction to Our Community Impact As we reflect on the fiscal year 2024/25, it's essential to acknowledge the significant impact made by the Assistance League of Capistrano Valley in enhancing educational attainment. With a commitment to our community, we invested $262,000 to facilitate pivotal philanthropic programs that directly support both individuals and the community as a whole. Investment in Educational Programs The core of our community impact lies in our investments in education. By boosting educational attainment, we not only uplift individuals but also contribute to the overall progression of our community. This fiscal year's commitment to nine philanthropic programs highlights our dedication to providing resources that make a meaningful difference. We gave $76,500 in scholarships to 26 graduating CUSD High School seniors and to 10 single parents attending Saddleback College through the I.N.S.P.I.R.E. philanthropy. Each I.N.S.P.I.R.E. recipient has overcome many obstacles to get to where they are today and need continuing support to help them succeed. Giving graduating high school students financial assistance as they start their college journey, assists these esteemed students to create a brighter future for long-term opportunities for educational and personal growth. The Links to Learning philanthropy awarded $45,000 to middle school educators in the Capistrano Valley Unified School District.  Since the program’s inception in 2000, ALCV has provided 1,000s of grants to middle schools teachers for district approved but non-funded learning enrichment programs. Since each grant can benefit multiple students, the impact is exponential. The Igniting Potential philanthropy gave $30,000 to the AVID (Achievement through Individual Determination) program at San Clemente High School and San Juan Hills High School. This philanthropy promotes the disruption of generational poverty by giving targeted educational services to typically underserved students. ALCV members also directly engage with students through various workshops, career presentations and mock interviews. With such a variety of programming, each grade level receives some level of service.  The Hands On Literacy philanthropy promotes both language and mathematics fluency in CUSD elementary classrooms. Members engage directly with small groups of students on a weekly basis, providing literacy support to students needing reading and math assistance.  In some cases, teachers may task members to work one-on-one with targeted students. $12,000 in books were provided for students to keep. The $262,000 invested last year has empowered many to pursue their educational goals, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
