Serving Those Who Serve

The Serving Those Who Serve is a philanthropy dedicated to supporting military personnel serving at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton by providing them with essential clothing for children, accessories and household supplies. We understand the unique challenges faced by military families, including frequent relocations, deployments, and financial strains. Our mission is to ease some of the burdens these families encounter by ensuring their children have the clothing they need to thrive.

Established in 2004, the Back to School Clothing event has provided 1000s of Camp Pendleton children with new clothing and infant/toddlers. This program involves several local Assistance League chapters. Each chapter provides a clothing item and/or gift cards to active enlisted Marine and Navy families serving at Camp Pendleton. The Chapters for Children program not only provides practical assistance to military families but also demonstrates empathy, community support, and a commitment to honoring the sacrifices made by military personnel.  We also offer a 10% discount to military personnel at our thrift store, the Bargain Box in San Clemente.

In 2025, the Project Pantry and Toddler Time programs were created. The Project Pantry provides needed supplies to stock the ASYMCA’s Pantry for families located on the base. Approximately 60 new families are transferred to Camp Pendleton each month, and are not permitted to move any cleaning products or open containers. Access to essential supplies is crucial as they settle in. By stocking the pantry, we aim to alleviate some of the stress and cost associated with relocation. Toddler Time provides 2T to 5T outfits for military children through the ASYMCA along with meeting needs at the Fisher Childcare Center at Camp Pendleton.

The annual impact of this philanthropy is $10-20K.
