Assistance League of Capistrano Valley and OC Supervisor Katrina Foley Invests $15,000 in Dana Hills High School AVID Program

The Assistance League of Capistrano Valley was honored to receive a $7,500 grant from Orange County Supervisor  Katrina Foley. Because we believe in putting dollars to work where they matter most, our chapter proudly matched the $7,500, allowing us to award a total of $15,000 to the AVID program at Dana Hills High School. The majority of the $15,000 investment will go towards: • Teacher training to ensure the program is implemented with excellence • College field trips so students can see—and believe in—their future firsthand Our Igniting Potential philanthropy was established in 2023 to support the AVID program at San Clemente High School. The following year, the program was expanded to include San Juan Hills high School and Dana Hills High School in 2026.  So what is AVID? AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nationally recognized college readiness program designed to support students who have the drive to succeed but may need additional academic structure, mentorship, and guidance to become first-generation college graduates. AVID helps students develop critical thinking skills, organization, time management, and confidence—preparing them for college and career success. This is how change happens. Public partnership. Local commitment. Direct investment in students. We’re proud to stand behind programs that open doors and create opportunity. The impact of this gift will extend far beyond the classroom. 🎓

Caring in Crisis: Our Philanthropic Clothing Program for Emergency Room Patients

Our Trauma Tog Philanthropic Program In times of crisis, it's essential to provide comfort and dignity. Our Trauma Togs program provides clothing for emergency room patients who have unexpectedly found themselves in distressing situations, often having their clothes cut off due to medical emergencies. This program serves Providence Mission Hospital emergency rooms located in Laguna Beach and Mission Viejo. This initiative serves to ensure that all patients receive the compassionate care they deserve while also maintaining their modesty during hospital visits. The Impact of Clothing Distribution When individuals arrive at the emergency room, the primary focus is on their health and well-being. However, the experience can be traumatic, especially when patients are left without appropriate clothing. By donating clothing directly to hospitals, we help reduce the added stress of such situations. Our program provides comfortable attire, which not only supports patients functionally but also brings a sense of normalcy to an otherwise chaotic time. A Letter of Gratitude How You Can Get Involved You can impact those in need by donating new or gently used clothing to the Bargain Box Thrift Store or by giving a monetary donation through our Donate Now webpage. Together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of patients facing unexpected hospital visits. Join us in our effort to promote dignity and compassion during medical emergencies, one piece of clothing at a time!
